DEAON GRIFFIN-PRESSLEY (ACTOR, TEACHING ARTIST, EDUCATOR, COTTON FARMER, MODEL, PRODUCER, POET/WRITER, SINGER & FOUNDER/CEO of DGP THEATRE PRODUCTIONS, LLC) is originally from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  

 

He is a classically-trained internationally award-winning actor with a natural gift for playwrighting, singing, producing and farming. 

 

Deaon has studied theatre at AMDA in New York City as well as the British American Drama Academy at Oxford University in England under a full scholarship from the English Speaking Union.

 

His most recent original production Satan Vs God (one-man show) directed by Judy Barr & filmed by Andre Russell featured in the International Edinburgh Festival Fringe through the CARTS Digital online programme in Scotland U.K. where it received 'The Spirit of Fringe' from the Derek Awards. Satan Vs God (the screenplay) is now on a digital-tour recently making stops in New Zealand Fringe, Brighton, Manchester & Sydney Fringe Festival and is available for viewing year round at CtheArts: https://res.cthearts.com/event/34:3398/34:59362/

Abernathy, “I Have A Dream: The Broadway Musical” performed at the Dr. Phillips (Walt Disney Theatre) in Orlando, Florida; (Shakespeare & Company) Booth, Topdog/Underdog (Berkshire Theatre Award Winner for 'Best Production' & 'Best Ensemble'); Orlando, As You Like It; Ferdinand, The Tempest; (Actors’ Shakespeare Project) Richmond/Hastings +8 other characters; Richard III (The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre) Duke Orsino, Twelfth Night; (Hypokrit Theatre Company) Mercutio & Tybalt (rep), Romeo & Juliet; (American Globe Theatre) Banquo, Macbeth among many others..

 

Available on amazon are a few independently published plays including:  "The False Brotherhood Trilogy", "The Tragedy At HOOD: 14542 (Hoodsical)" & "With His Hands, Raheem Paints Omar Golden With Wings While Crying Tears Of Colour:RAW."

His scripts have been directed in New York City by acclaimed theatre artist's including Tony Award Winner, Ben Harney & renowned stand-up comedian/actor Doug E Doug. Across the US, his plays have been produced with Broadway producers such as Woodie King Jr.'s New Federal Theatre, as well as Patrick Blake with Rhymes Over Beats.

 

Deaon is also in a soul-rock duo band with Gregory Boover called MoonCaps.  They have recently released their second album, Man In My Eyes, now available for streaming on all major platforms including iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music or at www.mooncapsmusic.com.

 

His latest mission, DGP Cotton-Talk, includes growing organic hibiscus cotton plants with the intent to bring cotton back without slavery and reintroduce multicolored cotton plants to "black" & "white" Americans in hopes to heal the psychological trauma done through the exploitation of cotton in the USA and abroad. DGP Cotton-Talk also plants multi-colored cotton seeds with students around South Florida, offering ages 5yrs to 18yrs old (through college) an opportunity to receive (hands-on) experience engaging with multi-colored cotton fibers, seeds and history in real time.

Please feel welcome to come chat with him and take home a green, brown, white, tan or red foliage cotton plant (cotton art or multicolored cotton seeds) at your local farmers markets here in South Florida every Saturday at Volunteer Park in Plantation from 9am-2pm, Sunday at the Tamarac Recreational Center in Tamarac from 9am-2pm and Thursday's at Broward Imperial Point in Fort Lauderdale from 10am-3pm.
